Geoff Wittig

I’m a practicing family doctor in a small town in rural western New York State. I started photographing landscapes 30 years ago as a way to decompress from a stressful job.

I began painting landscapes in 2012; after 20 years of photographing them, I realized that the advent of digital capture made it too easy to get a technically good image. Painting is far more challenging, yet also much more rewarding. I’ve read everything I can find on the subject, and I paint every chance I get.

I have taken workshops with painters I admire, including Thomas Kegler, John McDonald, George VanHook and Peter Fiore.
